What goes on here?

You're probably wondering what goes on here.

We reckon that, at its root, Chaplaincy is about community.

It is a bit chaotic so let me try and organise it for you.

Worship

Chaplaincy is the church on campus. We have a whole bunch of different services:

Wednesday — Anglican & Free Church Communion

Most students have Wednesday afternoons off, so that's the time we have our main Protestant service on campus. The service has an informal and relaxed style, plenty of time for discussion and lively songs — all in a communion setting.

With no Anglican or Free Church Chaplain, we had a rota of local ministers leading us for the autumn term — an excellent opportunity to get to know new folk and new traditions! While James is still new, the same arrangement will continue until further notice.

The service starts at 1.11pm sharp.

Thursday — Evening Prayer

On Thursday, we have a short evening prayer at 5pm, lasting about 15 or 20 minutes. It is non-denominational (ecumenical) and is an excellent way to give a short time to God in a busy day. Being ecumenical, the style varies week-to-week — vive le difference!

Sunday — Catholic Mass

Every Sunday at 6.30pm in term time, we host the city's only Student Mass. With worship led by a group of students and local priests, followed by a meal.

Events

Throughout the year Chaplaincy runs all manner of events. Click here for more details.
